Wiley Reed is the living embodiment of the blues. Born in Jacksonville, Florida in 1944, he launched his singing career at the tender age of 9 in the local church choir, and began piano studies at age 15. In 1967, he arrived in Australia, married, and chose Australia as his adopted country.

Reed has received several awards for his tremendous musical talent. His new CD, “Straight from the Heart” won three Queensland Recording Association 2003 “Sunnie” Awards, for Best Male Vocalist, Best Blues Album and Best Producers, and Wiley has twice won Best Blues Artist at the Gold Coast International Jazz and Blues Festival.

“Straight from the Heart” reflects the magic that is uniquely his. The album features a compilation of songs from beautiful ballads such as “I Put a Spell on You” and “You Don't Know Me” to the driving rhythms of “Muddy Waters”.

Wiley chose these songs “…hoping to touch the hearts of listeners who may have had the blues at some stage in their lives, or who have experienced some of the situations I have sung about”.

He has worked professionally throughout Asia, Europe, South America, the Pacific and the USA. Wiley's versatile range of musical genres is extensive from jazz, blues, rock and country to tasteful ballads, as well as spiritual and gospel songs. His golden rule is, “I always make sure the folks leave feelin' better than they did when they came in”
