Kristin Berardi will join renowned jazz guitarist James Sherlock to launch their new album, If You Were There, at the Judith Wright Centre on Saturday 27 June 2009.

Winning the Montreux Jazz Festival International Voice Competition in 2006 (selected by a judging panel led by Al

Jarreau), Kristin Berardi says she is excited to be launching this new album “in the city where this duo began".

“James and I are really excited about launching this album in Brisbane, as we met and started gigging as a duo in

the city in 2004,” Berardi said.

“This album consists of some great jazz standards and some original material, and we hope that our love of music

and wanting to give an honest performance comes across in our interpretations of the repertoire," she said.

If You Were There is the second album release by Kristin Berardi and James Sherlock, following their successful2006 debut release, which was short listed for Best Australian Jazz Vocal Album.

In 2007 Kristin Berardi and James Sherlock embarked on a European tour, which culminated in a critically

acclaimed performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival.Growing up in a tiny sugar cane town in North Queensland,

Kristin Berardi moved to Brisbane to study at the

Queensland Conservatorium of Music and is now based in Sydney.

With a voice described by critics as delicate and delectable,
Kristin Berardi has recorded with the likes of Jim

Pugh and Kenny Werner in New York, and West End Composer’s Collective and Kate Miller-Heidke in Austraila.

In 2005
Kristin Berardi was placed third in the Australian National Jazz Vocal Competition, while in 2007 she was

awarded the Freedman Fellowship at Sydney Opera House.

Performing at festivals across Australia, New York and Germany, Berardi has performed at
Melbourne International

Women's Jazz Festival and Women in Voice 13.Winner of the Ike Isaacs International Guitar Award in 1997,

James Sherlock is renowned for his intricate,

energetic rhythms and colourful melodies.

Sherlock has performed with the likes of Sheila Jordan (US) Martin Taylor (UK), film composer Howard Shore (US)

and Australian artists Katie Noonan, Dale Barlow and James Morrison.

For one-night-only on Saturday 27 June, Brisbane audiences will be treated to a sumptuous night of jazz by
Kristin

Berardi and James Sherlock when they launch their new album, If You Were There.
